About
Hola, I am Edwin! This is my personal website. I am a software developer.
A quick look back...
Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; 1994 is the year! my mom "forced" me to study computers, so signed me up in CENTU.
My initial contact with computer programming was with Basic, Clipper and Fox Pro... great memories! My first computer was a 286 with a 25MHz… then a 386 with a 55 MHz, the CPU literally blew up when installed Windows 95 😅
After finishing my studies in CENTU, I got into electronics in a printer shop. I learned so much! thanks to my mentors; this is why I appreciate so much the role a good mentor can play in the future of someone’s career, they taught me a lot about electronics.
I treasure all the great memories and experience from working in different companies, mostly in computers and printer repairs. In 2001 moved to Puerto Rico, start studying in the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, from where I got my bachelor's degree in Computer Science, graduated Cum Laude.
During my college years, I also got certified in CompTIA A+, Network+ and Server+.
In 2003 started working back in programming using the recently released .NET Framework 1.0; then in 2007 dedicated most of my time working with Salesforce and dipping my toes in SaaS; later in 2010 started working with SPA using knockoutJS and later AngularJS and was love at first sight 😊
In 2013, started working with the brand new Docker technology and the hot new concept in the market: Microservices. Since then, been working with AWS and Azure and been obsessed with scalability, performance, observability and testability.
So far, my motto is: "Never Stop Learning"... and every professional that knows me, knows that I mean it; love to try new things, always learning...
Enough for now!
Love cruising!
Married in 2004, tried our first cruise in 2006, we try to take one each year, unless something better comes up... We been in transatlantic cruises, and we loved it. We still have a long list of places we want to go cruising...
Coffee, one of my passions!
Is there life before coffee? My wife and I, shared the same passion for a good cup of coffee. We like to try coffee from all over the world. My favorite roast is medium. Also like dark roast just when with my wife.
Helping others
It is so satisfying! Helping others to gain knowledge to be better in life... is like the saying: "Give one fish to a man, and you will feed him for one day, teach him to fish, and you will feed him for the rest of his life."
