About

Hola, I am Edwin! This is my personal website. I am a software developer.

A quick look back...

Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; from where David Ortiz aka "Big Papi" is (Go Sox and Go Patriots, maybe soon Go Celtics because of Al Horford) anyways, 1994 is the year! my mom "forced" me to study computers, so signed me up in CENTU.

My initial contact with computer programming was with Basic, Clipper and Fox Pro... great memories! My first computer a 386 55 MHz, the CPU literally blew up when installed Windows 95.

After finishing my studies in CENTU, I got into electronics in a printer shop. There, I learned so much! thanks to my mentor Ralphy Vizcaíno, whom using the hard way, tough me a lot about electronics, until today we keep in touch. Love you moreno!

I treasure all the great memories and experience from working in different companies, mostly in computers and printer repairs. In 2001 moved to Puerto Rico, start studying in the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, from where I got my bachelor's degree in Computer Science, graduated Cum Laude. In 2002 I started studying the Bible with the Jehovah's Witnesses, and got baptized in July 19th, 2003.

In May 15th, 2004, I got married to the most beautiful woman in the world, Awilda, has been 12 years as of the time of this writing and it feels like days... Love you with all my heart bb!

During my college years, I also got certified in CompTIA A+, Network+ and Server+. Worked full time in Networks and Servers until 2007.

In 2007 started working in a computers repair shop, there I met Salesforce; while overseeing the shop I got the opportunity to program in Salesforce, that was the spark that revive my love for programming... after that, got back to my developer roots; worked with Pablo Vivera (I owe that guy the developer I am today!). I started again developing using Microsoft .NET technologies and started loving the open source community...

In 2013, my wife and I decided to move to Raleigh in North Carolina looking for a change, and we've settled just fine, we love the city and how quiet it is; my wife and I, we enjoy going out preaching in the Spanish territory and conduct Bible studies with anyone interested.

So far, my motto is: "Never Stop Learning"... and every professional that knows me, knows that I mean it; love to try new things, always learning...

Enough for now!

Love cruising!

Married in 2004, tried our first cruise in 2006, we try to take one each year, unless something better comes up... We been in transatlantic cruises, and we loved it. We still have a long list of places we want to go cruising...

Coffee, one of my passions!

Is there life before coffee? My wife and I, shared the same passion for a good cup of coffee. We like to try coffee from all over the world. My favorite roast is medium. Also like dark roast just when with my wife.

Helping others

It is so satisfying! Helping others to gain knowledge to be better in life... is like the saying: "Give one fish to a man, and you will feed him for one day, teach him to fish, and you will feed him for the rest of his life."
